What is “Living a D1 Life”?
Our son, Dylan, died at the age of 17 in a tragic car accident, but lived a life filled with love, kindness and a selfless gift of generosity and compassion way beyond his years. Dylan was like most teenagers…outgoing, fun, spirited, and competitive with dreams of college, adventure and success.
Dylan gave his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 15 which was the proudest day of his life. He was a goalie on his high school soccer team in Auburn, AL, but he was also an accomplished photographer shooting weddings, engagements and senior portraits. He was definitely beyond his years in the industry and projected by his mentors to achieve greatness at such a young age. It was his passion.
Dylan’s reputation preceded him when it came to being kind to others, making people laugh, or surprising them with random acts of kindness. He displayed generosity and empathy at such a young age and in a world where selfishness and notoriety run rampant. He was never one to draw attention to himself. He just wanted to make people smile.
Dylan’s personality, his love and actions on a daily basis showed us all how we can “live better”. Such simple principles that we’re all guilty of complicating. Show the love of Jesus every day. Change the world one person at a time.
Just as D1 is synonymous with the highest level of competition in collegiate athletics, “Living a D1 Life” is living a life at the highest level of love, kindness and generosity through Christ. It’s truly the way Dylan lived his life. It’s truly the way we should live ours.
God Bless,
